Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, professionaly known as Doja Cat was born October 21, 1995 in Los Angeles, California. Young Doja grew up with her mother and maternal grandmother in Los Angeles, California, and New York. Her first stint in performing arts was when she took dancing classes.

She soon discovered her musical talent and immediately delved into it. Doja Cat’s brazen approach to her musical career benefitted her immensely. She often downloaded beats online and self-produced songs that she uploaded to Soundcloud during the early days of her career.

Doja got signed into Kemosabe in 2013 and later to RCA Records in 2014. Under this joint record, she released “Purrr.” However, it received relatively little success, and so did her first album, 2018’s Amala.

It wouldn’t take long after her first album release to gain a breakthrough in music, thanks to the virality of her 2018 Novelty single, “Mooo.” Building upon her “Mooo’s” success, she released her second studio album, Hot Pink to widespread acclaim.
