Breast Implant Sizes
Welcome to our easy-to-follow online guide, where we will clearly explain the different breast implant sizes available, helping you understand the pros and cons of each option.
Implant size is usually measured in cubic centimeters and implants are produced in many various sizes. Range from approximately 100cc to 800cc or more.
Implant sizes are categorized into three main groups:
Small: 100-299cc (e.g., AA-A cup)
Medium: 300-499cc (e.g., B-C cup)
Large: 500-799cc (e.g., D-DD cup)
Some manufacturers also offer extra-large sizes (800cc or more).
It’s important to note that: Implant size does not directly correspond with bra size. The same implant size can look different on different individuals due to body shape and proportions. Surgeons consider various factors, including body frame, breast tissue, and personal preferences, to recommend the most suitable implant size for each patient.
Why aren’t breast implants sized like bras?
The reason, why there are no “B”, “C” or “D” cup size implants, is simple. Total breast size will consist of breast tissue that woman had prior surgery plus the implant size. If you already had C cups before augmentation, total size will be different after using 280cc implant from the situation when woman had only A cups.
Size is not the only dimension you have to choose when deciding which implants to get. There is also so called profile, which we cover in separate article here.
What size of breast implant do I need to go from 32A to 32C (or 32D etc)?
This can’ be easily calculated, since it depends on many various factors. Simply speaking, how implants and the natural tissue will stack together. But surgeon should be able to give you at least approximate estimate after seeing your current breasts. Usually 250cc - 300cc are big enough to make D cups out of 32AA. But remember that this information is only for basic orientation. For one woman it will be 260cc, for other 280cc and so on.
What is the most popular breast implant size?
The most common size varies by manufacturer, but generally ranges from 350-500cc. Your surgeon will help determine the best size for you based on your body frame, breast tissue, and personal preferences. They will also consider factors like the size and shape of your natural breasts, your desired level of enhancement, and the proportions of your body to ensure a natural-looking result.
Can I change my implant size later?
Yes, upgrading or changing breast implant sizes requires additional surgery, which involves removing the existing implants and replacing them with new ones. This procedure, known as implant exchange or revision, carries additional costs, including surgical fees, anesthesia fees, hospital or surgical facility fees, and the cost of new implants.
How long do breast implants last?
The lifespan of breast implants varies depending on the type and manufacturer, typically ranging from 10 to 20 years or more. Saline implants usually last 10-15 years, while silicone gel implants can last 15-20 years or more. Cohesive gel and Motiva implants are designed to be more durable, with a lifespan of 20-30 years or more. However, implant longevity is not guaranteed and can be influenced by factors like surgical technique, implant placement, and individual body chemistry.
